MORE THAN 800,000 DISPLACED LEBANESE HAVE BEGUN RETURNING HOME, UN SAYS

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 821,000 displaced Lebanese have begun returning to their homes as of July 30, signalling a significant shift in the country’s displacement dynamics.

OCHA’s figures indicate that 821,077 people had started the return process, while 360,000 Lebanese remain displaced. Approximately 26,000 of those still displaced are housed in government shelters, according to The Times of Israel.

The return of such a large number of displaced people reflects ongoing efforts to address humanitarian needs in Lebanon amid continued conflict and instability. Monitoring of displacement trends remains a priority for international aid agencies.
