Electronic Arts (EA) officially closed its $55 billion leveraged buyout, becoming a private company on Tuesday, according to The Verge. The deal, led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) alongside Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, will see the PIF acquire 93.4 % of the new company.
The transaction includes $20 billion of debt financing, making it the largest leveraged buyout ever, and will likely drive significant changes at EA to justify the cost, the source said. EA has recently been concentrating on its flagship franchises such as Battlefield and its sports titles, which will now be under new ownership and financial structure.
Private‑ownership changes often shift strategic priorities and financial reporting, and the scale of the buyout underscores the high expectations for EA’s future growth.
