| The Verge | X REPLACES ITS REVENUE-SHARING PROGRAM WITH ‘ORIGINAL CONTENT REWARDS’ | 1 hr ago |
X announced that it will discontinue its controversial revenue‑sharing program for content creators and replace it with an “Original Content Rewards” scheme starting September 8. Under the new model, creators can earn money only if they meet specific thresholds and generate revenue from qualified impressions on their original posts.
According to The Verge, creators must have at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days, along with other undisclosed requirements. Earnings will be calculated from “qualified impressions,” defined as unique views from Premium subscribers on the Home Timeline where at least half of the post is visible. The transition follows a series of program revisions that occurred during Elon Musk’s leadership.
The change reflects X’s ongoing effort to monetize its platform while tightening eligibility for revenue participation. It also signals a shift toward rewarding creators who produce new, original content rather than reposted material.
