Cambricon Technologies, a Chinese artificial‑intelligence chip maker, reported a 108% surge in first‑half revenue on Friday, underscoring China’s aggressive push to replace foreign AI hardware with domestic products.
According to a filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the company’s revenue for the first six months of 2024 rose to 6 billion yuan (about US$890 million) and profits climbed 122.6% to 2.3 billion yuan. In the second quarter alone, revenue reached 3.1 billion yuan, reflecting a strong quarterly performance.
The jump reflects China’s broader strategy to secure its AI supply chain and reduce dependence on overseas chip manufacturers.
