| Associated Press | USA SWIMMING PLACES CFO ON LEAVE AFTER LEARNING OF ARREST FOR EMBEZZLEMENT WHILE WORKING AT CU | 1 hr ago |
USA Swimming announced Monday that its chief financial officer, Cory Hilliard, has been placed on leave after his arrest on charges of theft and embezzlement while employed as an administrator in the University of Colorado athletic department.
According to the Associated Press, Hilliard was accused by the Boulder district attorney of misappropriating $9,510 from the school’s Nike Elite program for personal use. He was hired as CFO of USA Swimming in December, and the organization said it "immediately placed Cory on leave and terminated all access to any company data and financial controls," while conducting its own investigation. Hilliard has not yet responded to a request from the AP sent to his USA Swimming email address.
The move follows the organization’s recent leadership changes under CEO Kevin Ring and highlights concerns about financial oversight at USA Swimming.
